Which of these image tools do I actually want?
Compressor when the picture is right but the file is too heavy. Resizer when the dimensions are wrong. Format Converter when the file type is the problem, or when there is a folder of them. Background Remover when you need the subject on its own. Watermark Remover when something is stamped over the part you need. Plenty of jobs want two passes — resize down first, then compress what is left.
How big an image can I upload?
Up to 25 MB per file, enforced on the server rather than only in the page. The Format Converter also takes up to 25 files in one batch and hands them back as a single ZIP. Pixel-count caps apply on top of that: 100 megapixels for conversions, 30 for background removal.
What happens to the photos I upload?
Each request is self-contained: the server decodes your photo, applies your settings, streams the finished bytes back, and the buffer holding the original goes out of scope with the request. Nothing lands on a disk, in a queue or in a bucket — and since tools need no account, there is no gallery of past jobs to go back and empty.
Which image formats can I convert between?
The Format Converter reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, GIF and SVG, and writes JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF or GIF. HEIC to JPG is the most requested trip, since that is what iPhones shoot by default. Animated GIF and WebP sources keep every frame when the target format supports animation.
Should I resize or compress to get under a size limit?
Resize first. Halving the width throws away three quarters of the pixels, which cuts far more weight than any quality slider, and a photo bound for an 800px column gains nothing from being 4,000px wide. Compress what is left afterwards if it is still too heavy.
Do the image tools work on a phone?
Yes, and a phone is the common case here — most uploads are a photo that never left the camera roll. Panels stack into a single column on a narrow screen instead of scrolling sideways, and since the handset never runs an encoder, an old phone and a new laptop produce identical files. The phone just spends longer uploading.
